wednesdays at 6:30pm

Celebrate Recovery is a place where people with hurts, habits and hang-ups gather to experience and to celebrate God's healing power in our lives through eight recovery principles, and the Christ-centered 12 steps.  This experience opens the door to change as we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life problems. Join us every Wednesday night from 6:30PM to 8:00PM at Abundant Life Church in the Sanctuary. Come as you are!

Doesn't "Recovery" mean I need to be recovering from alcohol or drugs? Absolutely not!  This ministry is for all types of problems and addictions, which are unhealed, unmet or unresolved. These may include (but are not limited to): overeating, anger/rage, overspending, fear and anxiety, abuse, overworking, insecurity, depression, perfectionism, guilt, hypochondria, divorce, gambling, codependency, lying, grief, procrastination, hurtful relationships, sexual addiction, the need to control, drug/alcohol addiction. And so on ...  Some more controlling than others. Please join us, and see what it's all about.  All are welcome!

CELEBRATE RECOVERY SMALL GROUPS CAN:

  • Provide you a safe place to share your experiences, strengths and hopes with others who are going through the "Principles" in a Christ-Centered recovery.
  • Provide you a leader who has gone through a similar hurt, hang-up or habit that will facilitate the group as it focuses on a particular Step each week. The leader will also keep Celebrate Recovery's "FIVE RULES."
  • Provide you with the opportunity to find an accountability partner or sponsor.
  • Encourage you to attend other recovery meetings held throughout the week, if available.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY SMALL GROUPS WILL NOT:

  • Attempt to offer any professional clinical advice.  Our leaders are not counselors. We will provide you a list of approved counseling referrals.
  • Allow its members to attempt to fix one another.

Principles of celebrate recovery

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to celebrate God's healing power in our lives through eight recovery principles, and the Christ-centered 12 steps.  This experience opens the door to change as we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God's grace in solving our life problems.

"But Jesus said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."  (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

By working through the steps and applying their Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

8 Principles Based on the Beatitudes  By Pastor Rick Warren

Realize I'm not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.

"Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor."

Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover.

"Happy are those who mourn for they shall be comforted."

Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control.

              "Happy are the meek."

Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God and to someone I trust.

"Happy are the pure in heart."

Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.

"Happy are those who's greatest desire is to do what God requires."

Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I've done others, except when to do so would harm them or others.

"Happy are the merciful." "Happy are the peacemakers."

Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words.

"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires."
